In a brace of top-level hires, VanMoof adds two new faces to its management team

VanMoof recruits ASOS Head of Creative Pascal Duval and Sungevity Europe COO Frank Goovaerts.

Amsterdam, 28 January 2020 - Dutch e-bike innovators VanMoof have announced two major new hires. The ambitious move sees Pascal Duval appointed as VanMoof’s first CCO. He will spearhead creative output as the company enters its next phase of growth. Frank Goovaerts is appointed as the new COO, and will lead VanMoof’s continued rapid expansion. The additions bring new depth and structure to VanMoof’s management team, as the company builds on its increasing prominence as the leading e-bike brand.

The future of urban mobility is now

The top-tier hires provide a bedrock of strategic expertise and innovation at the dawn of a watershed decade for e-bikes. The transition from start-up to scale-up saw the company hire over 100 people in 2019. Pascal Duval has most recently managed the creative teams for two global brands – ASOS and G-Star RAW – overseeing the periods when both became fashion authorities. He has received multiple Cannes Lion and D&AD awards for his work.

It’s an incredibly exciting moment to join VanMoof. I’m looking forward to bringing the brand to the next creative level. VanMoof blends function and style to inspire their riders. It’s the perfect time to forge a deeper emotional connection with our existing and future riders.

Frank Goovaerts comes from a private equity background, guiding start-ups to scale-ups, most recently as COO for solar energy company Sungevity Europe:

I’m delighted to come onboard at such a pivotal stage in VanMoof’s growth. E-bikes are set to become the best choice for city commuting in the new decade. Getting more people onto smarter rides as quickly as possible is an exciting mission that will reshape cities into the 2020s.

Frank Goovaerts, COO, VanMoof.

VanMoof is a rapidly growing bike-meets-tech company. Revenues have grown from 10M in 2018 to nearly 40M in 2019. VanMoof’s high tech range of electrified bikes, the Electrified S2 and X2 are driving the company’s growth. 2020 will see further brand store expansion and some very exciting developments.

It’s a new year and this new experience gives VanMoof a fresh injection of organisational expertise and creative vision. Frank and Pascal represent the future and will help us build on last year’s success
