(Old) VanMoof founders - Taco and Ties Carlier

Dutch brothers Taco and Ties Carlier founded VanMoof in 2009. Their background in industrial design engineering and lack of background in the bike industry allowed them to completely flip the concept of a city bike on it's head.

Coming from Amsterdam, where cycling is simply how you get from A to B, they reimagined how a bike should work in the cities of tomorrow. The brothers stripped out unnecessary parts, improved the essentials, and integrated technology to stick it to bike thieves, headwinds and heatwaves.

Over the years they have won numerous awards, including the Red Dot Design and Fast Company Innovation by Design awards. Today, VanMoof has over 100.000 riders worldwide, selling their bikes direct to consumer online and through their 7 brand stores worldwide.
