VanMoof S3 and X3 now work with Apple’s Find My app

VanMoof introduces Find My-enabled e-bikes as it ushers in the future of cycling

San Francisco, April 7, 2021 - VanMoof is announcing that its S3 and X3 e-bikes ordered from today will work with Apple’s Find My app. VanMoof is one of the first e-mobility brands to join Apple’s Find My network. Riders are now able to add their latest VanMoof bikes to the new Items tab in the Find My app, allowing them to find and track the bike in a private and secure way using the vast and global Find My network, made up of hundreds of millions of Apple devices.

Ushering in the future of cycling

This integration with Apple’s Find My app fits seamlessly into VanMoof’s vision of the future – and as you might expect, it’s one with plenty more bikes. “We’re ushering the future of cycling into the present day,” says Ties Carlier, co-founder of VanMoof. “In the near future, when bikes are the primary mode of transportation in cities, this will come in handy as it gives riders around the world peace of mind they’ll be able to swiftly locate their ride.” With the new Items tab in the Find My app, you can now locate your bike on a map from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Innovative e-bikes join Apple’s Find My network

VanMoof is one of the first brands to implement this capability and was able to do so because of its in-house product philosophy and the pre-existing advanced tech of their bikes. The new Find My network accessory program enables third-party companies to build finding capabilities into their products, letting you use Apple’s Find My app to locate and keep track of your important items, like your VanMoof – even when it isn’t nearby.

The Find My network, a network of hundreds of millions of Apple devices, can locate your e-bike while utilizing all of the network’s built-in privacy and security protections.

More precise tracking than ever

You can connect your VanMoof S3 or X3 to the Find My app on your Apple devices in a few easy steps. After setup, you can view and locate your VanMoof S3 and X3 alongside your other supported devices in the new Items tab. In addition to VanMoof’s industry-leading security measures, if your VanMoof bike ever goes missing, you now have the option to use the Find My app to take action to recover it. If it’s nearby you can play a sound to easily locate it – or if it’s further away, just put your bike in Lost Mode and let the Find My network help track it down.

If a lost VanMoof S3 or X3 is located, someone can use the Find My app on any iPhone to identify it and be taken to a website that will display the owner’s message and contact information. And turning on ‘Notify when found’ will notify you when the Find My network has located your VanMoof, then provide that location on a map in the Find My app.

The Apple Find My network is anonymous and uses advanced encryption. This means that no one else – not even Apple or VanMoof – can view the location of your ride. To use the Find My app to locate your e-bike you will need the latest VanMoof S3 or X3, an iPhone with iOS 14.3 or later, iPad with iPadOS 14.3 or later, or a Mac with Big Sur macOS 11.1 or later.
