Senior Tax Specialist

VanMoof is a fast-moving bike company set for major growth – but we can only grow with a strong foundation of tax governance, compliance, and planning. That’s why we’re looking for a Senior Tax Specialist to help establish and lead our in-house tax advice.

As a Senior Tax Specialist, you’ll report to the Group Tax Manager and work closely across teams to design and build world-class tax processes and practices ready for the digital future. You’ll support our leaders and stakeholders with our rapid market expansion, and provide day-to-day support of our international operations and strategic initiatives. You’ll investigate our riders’ needs and product opportunities and translate these into tangible product recommendations.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work on exciting group-wide tax and transfer pricing projects and be responsible for making sure that all legal requirements are met. You’ll work closely with external advisers and service providers to make sure our products and systems are meeting the highest tax technical and content standards.

As VanMoof continues to grow, so will your responsibilities. Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional with international operations and advisory experience on direct and indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, who’s eager to learn and improve within their role. You should have a collaborative, flexible, and persevering mindset, and excellent communication skills.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll work closely with the Group Tax Manager to implement tax policies, strategies, and initiatives.

  • You’ll take the lead in projects that aim at managing, mitigating, and resolving any potential tax risks and opportunities within the VanMoof Group (with a strong focus on the area of indirect tax).

  • You’ll partner closely with all internal stakeholders and operating teams to provide clear tax inputs and provide guidance on operational decisions.

  • You’ll support the commercial business and supply chain function, assist with one-off assignments and projects such as setting-up systems and processes to meet tax requirements, and act as a key point of contact for VanMoof.

  • You’ll be responsible for monitoring global business initiatives and legislative developments that can have a tax impact on VanMoof.

  • You’ll contribute to continuous improvement and support of the implementation of new regulations in tax related processes and controls.

  • You’ll prepare transfer pricing reports (both local files and masterfiles) based on the group templates and documentation.

  • You’ll assist in the development and implementation of VanMoof’s tax analysis and models.

  • You’ll participate in tax training and actively show interest in new tax regulations and changes, but also facilitate internal tax training together with the Group Tax Manager.

What you’ll bring:

  • You have an academic degree or experience in tax.

  • You have at least five years of experience in a tax environment (in-house or consulting).

  • You have solid knowledge of indirect taxes.

  • You have a passion for tax technical research, and an ability to analyze and review statutes, regulations, and case law.

  • You can translate complex tax concepts into easily understandable and fit for purpose procedures/guidelines.

  • You can manage multiple projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy.

  • You’re a self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • You’re collaborative and can create effective internal business partnerships.

  • You’re comfortable sharing information formally or informally with various collaborators.

  • You’re curious, have a hands-on approach to work, and outstanding organizational skills.

  • You have excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Additional languages are a big plus.

What you’ll get:

  • 26 paid holiday days for you to unwind

  • Your very own VanMoof bike (lend-lease)

  • Pension plan with Brand New Day

  • Bi-annual performance awards (subject to individual and company results)

  • Laptop, screens, and software tools

  • Insider experience in a rapidly-growing international company

  • Healthy lunch provided when in the office

  • Special snacks, tasty coffee (and lots of tea) when in the office

  • Weekly bootcamp, weekly yoga, OneFit discount, and ClassPass credits

  • Discount on Dutch health insurance

Deadline for applying to this role is Thursday the 12th of May at noon.
