Reliability Engineer

At VanMoof, we’re on a mission to make biking the favored mode of transport in cities worldwide. To succeed, reliability is key, so we’re looking for an exceptional Reliability Engineer to help us achieve our vision. Your focus will be to follow the reliability lifecycle of our bike, from design to development, manufacturing, and field operation in order to design-in, confirm, and grow exceptional reliability at every stage. 

As a Reliability Engineer, you’ll utilize large-scale data and help our Engineers design and validate the most compelling and reliable product for our riders. You’ll work closely with Research & Development (R&D) to create, interpret, and validate numeric models of fielded and in-test products, and drive reliability assessments in product design reviews. 

Our ideal candidate has a passion for engineering and for e-bikes, and is able to motivate stakeholders and drive progress on complex projects.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll build and implement reliability requirements and targets for products, subsystems, and components.

  • You’ll analyze usage from the field in order to improve requirement setting and testing methods.

  • You are responsible for communicating risk at each phase of product development and for released products in product design reviews.

  • You’ll apply statistical analysis to test field (life) data to inform reliability modeling/analyses and associated corrective actions.

  • You’ll facilitate failure analysis to understand root cause and drive resolution of failures occurring during product development.

  • You’ll influence supplier selection for higher reliability and provide clear guidance on reliability requirements and demonstration to suppliers.

  • You’ll provide reliability design guidelines and apply reliability lessons learned to enable continuous improvement.

  • You’ll answer complex questions on fleet usage and behavior to enable proactive health monitoring, grow reliability, and minimize field failures.

  • You are comfortable working cross-functionally across various teams and stakeholders within Vanmoof to break down problems into clear steps that drive development

What you’ll bring:

  • You have at least a bachelor’s in Engineering or Physics and at least a year of industry experience.

  • You have an understanding of applied statistics and reliability statistics.

  • You have knowledge of methods to design-in reliability

  • You have a solid understanding of reliability warranty analysis and reliability prediction methods.

  • You have experience working with electro-mechanical systems.
