We’re looking for a Motor Control and Powertrain Systems Engineer to help us bring truly next-generation e-bikes to city-dwellers across the globe. You’ll design game-changing products that will revolutionize city mobility, and ultimately help us achieve our mission to get the next billion on bikes.

As a Motor Control and Powertrain Systems Engineer, you’ll report to the Head of Power Systems, and work with our R&D teams in both Taipei and Amsterdam. We’ll expect you to work with the team and external partners to develop motor control, powertrain, and bike system behavior algorithms. Our ideal candidate has experience in developing high-volume complex consumer electronics products.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll design and develop proof-of-concepts to validate ideas, and then refine them into a real working system.

  • You’ll perform the bring-up and full functional validation final integration with the rest of the system alongside our Electronics Engineers.

  • You’ll define and design test plans and supporting test setups for both functional and manufacturing tests.

  • You’ll provide technical guidance and support to other team members throughout the development cycles.

  • You’ll drive continuous reliability, yield, and performance improvements throughout development and into production.

What you’ll bring:

  • You have a degree in Electrical Engineering (BS, MS preferred).

  • You have experience in developing motor control (brushless three phase) and preferably bike system behavior.

  • You have good knowledge of the Simulink/Matlab environment.

  • You’re proficient in C and C++ programming

  • You have hands-on experience of the process required to bring products all the way to production.

  • You have good knowledge of the latest electric motor technologies for e-mobility.

  • You’re proficient in analyzing electrical and electronics designs and schematics.

  • You have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Extremely nice to have:

  • Experience with electric motor test systems (e.g. dyno system)

  • Experience with high-volume consumer products

  • Electric vehicle behaviour control (traction control, regenerative breaking)

  • Knowledge of commonly used interfaces and protocols used in electronic systems (CANBus, SPI and SCI preferably)

  • Production and test engineering knowledge

What you’ll get:

  • 26 paid holiday days for you to unwind

  • Your very own VanMoof bike (lend-lease)

  • Pension plan with Brand New Day

  • Laptop, screens, and software tools

  • Insider experience in a rapidly-growing international company

  • Healthy lunch provided when in the office

  • Special snacks, tasty coffee (and lots of tea) when in the office

  • Weekly bootcamp, weekly yoga, OneFit discount, and ClassPass credits

  • Discount on Dutch health insurance
