Head of People Operations


Our People team's mission is to attract the best talent and enable our people to get the most out of their experience at VanMoof. We have over 450 people working at VanMoof with HQs in Amsterdam and Taipei and eight brand stores around the globe.

You will play a crucial leadership role in shaping the employee experience by building and implementing solid operations fundamentals, preparing VanMoof for future growth. This role is a key part of VanMoof's plans to scale in the right way by ensuring our talent infrastructure is ready for anything. You’ll need to thrive in a collaborative, high-growth environment, and be passionate about building innovative and scalable people programs and processes.

As our Head of People Ops, you will build and implement an efficient engine and automate all the necessary people processes, in order to lighten and streamline the workflows. This role will become a champion of the employee experience by helping people at VanMoof get to where they need to be, by making all our global processes and information as smooth and accessible as possible. You will manage the team of five global People Operations Specialists and a Comp & Ben Specialist. 

What you’ll do

  • Lead the People Operations roadmap and create, implement (or improve), standardize, and manage all global and local people processes, policies, and workflows that cater to business needs and help us achieve operational excellence in our People team.

  • Own, manage, and streamline critical and efficient work streams and admin processes across the full employee lifecycle.

  • Lead on all core People team processes and compliance, from policy, payroll, employee relations, and more, managing risk and ensuring compliance with the different labor and social laws of each market.

  • Lead efforts for documentation of processes and increasing efficiencies, reliability, and accuracy of these processes.

  • Own our people technology stack, tools, systems including integration and automation projects to help us scale and improve our talent infrastructure. Our HRIS (BambooHR, Nmbrs, ADP, Deputy), ATS (Ashby) and performance management system (CultureAmp). Ideally, you know the new players on the market that can help us clear the "people debt" we've built up.

  • Provides strategic direction, planning, and requirements to execute the design, implementation, communication, and administration of VanMoof's compensation and benefits programs including base pay, incentive pay, rewards, etc.

  • Build intelligence and insights from our people data. 

What you'll bring

  • Extensive experience (6-8 years) in People/HR Operations and leading a team

  • Seen scale in a global company – ideally from 50 to 300 to 1000+ employees. You can implement your learnings based on past experiences seeing scale.

  • A track record of building impactful people ops structures, owning complex projects and stands for creating simplicity from ambiguity.

  • Demonstrated experience across people operations, particularly HRIS, HR policies & processes, compliance, benefits, reward, and compliance.

  • Data-and-technology-savvy, you have a good understanding of what works and what does not work (best practices with systems/integrations/tooling etc.).

  • Experience developing and implementing innovative global compensation and benefit plans and establishing benefits in-house.

  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to design and communicate clear new processes.

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment, with the ability to make sound decisions independently – solutions-oriented.

  • Strong bias for action, you have to be willing to build from scratch if needed and you are not afraid of challenges or being hands on.

  • Strong oral and written English required.

  • Knowledge of Dutch labor and social laws, preferably also other countries where we’re active in.

  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
